Mission, Values, and Strategic Plan

I chose to examine the National Archives in Washington, D. C., with the intention of seeing how well (at least at the time) the institution held up the tenants of its mission statement. Additionally, I proposed a new project for the Archives to consider to highlight prominent disabled figures in United States history. I had honed in on disability access and visibility in the library and information field for a while, and I still believe that they are important. I hope to at least help to pave the way for better access and acceptance in libraries, in the future.

Student Learning Objectives:

  • Create innovative responses to the needs and interests of global and diverse communities;

  • Demonstrate leadership attributes for a variety of information seekers;

  • Interpret and apply basic and applied research to improve their professional practice;

  • Access, synthesize, and evaluate information to assist information seekers;

  • Analyze current and historical trends to forecast future directions for the library and information field; and 

  • Create a plan for continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
