Library Collection Analysis
This paper is meant to illustrate how well the Lancaster Community Library represents queerness—that is, how many materials revolve around LGBTQ+ narratives. I was curious because this library resides in a rural, right-leaning county in Virginia (Nguyen 2025), and serves a demographic largely made up of older people; however, these things alone does not discount the fact that there are queer members of the community, even among the older residents. As such, it is important to measure how well the queer community is represented by the materials the library provides.
